From One Member to Another

October marked six years that I’ve been a Licensed Massage Therapist. It was also my first opportunity to attend the AMTA National Convention, in Milwaukee. The last four years, I attended AMTA-IL Chapter’s Annual Conference, and I have always found it so uplifting and valuable to connect with my fellow LMT comrades. National Conference = kicked it up a notch! I gained an even greater perspective on the massage field.

Although I’m middle-aged, I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I would like to teach. There is such joy at the first ‘ah-ha’ of our own learning; then you practice what you’ve learned, and begin to perfect it. Passing knowledge onto others is being a part of the flow that is life-giving and has value. I learned from watching the other teachers, visiting with them socially, and asking questions.

I met so many new people and had a blast at the Dinner-Dance, Saturday night. The energy in the room was electric, because we shared something in common; being like-minded in our desire to help others, to live positively, and to learn and grow with enthusiasm.

Thank you, Milwaukee Chapter, for hosting the 2016 National Convention, and thank you, to all of those who were so kind and shared with me. I look forward to seeing you again next year, and engaging with you throughout the year.
