Both short-term and standing committees are the center of action in the Chapter. In this day and age of fast-paced living and crowded schedules, people need bite-sized tasks and short-term projects to feel ready to volunteer. So, in addition to the traditional committees described below, the chapter board identified a list of 10 ways to help the chapter. The board hopes this will make volunteering simpler and more appealing to busy members. Those interested in working on a committee or any of the work on the list should contact the Chapter office at 847-885-0674 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Membership Committee is a vital element of the Illinois Chapter as it facilitates communication between the other committees and work groups and serves as a bridge between members and AMTA. The primary goals of the committee are to encourage and maintain membership by promoting the benefits of AMTA and to recruit chapter volunteers. This is accomplished in several ways such as conducting school visits, hosting local Meet-Ups and communicating with members via phone calls, emails and social media.
The success of our chapter is attributed to our members especially those who volunteer. There are several areas and committees to serve and volunteers are connected to the committee or work group that best suits their interests.

The Awards Committee consists of a group of chapter volunteers who oversee the AMTA-IL chapter awards program. Under the guidance of the chair, this committee solicits, receives and reviews nominations of individuals who will receive recognition for their contributions to the advancement of the profession of massage therapy. Following national guidelines, the awards committee has the distinct privilege of setting the criteria and categories in which an individual is recognized. Although it is always a difficult decision to make, the committee fairly and unbiasedly votes on the award winning nominee to be presented at the annual AMTA-IL chapter spring conference. The Awards Committee is open all members who wish to volunteer.
